Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, everyone!
Yet another fruitful year had been upon us, and tis the season of thanksgiving and jolly hollies! For this year, I've decided to sing "Kumukutikutitap" by Ryan Cayabyab. It literally means "Flashing", referring to the flashing Christmas lights. It's a really nice local Christmas carol of ours! I have to thank
for giving me an idea to sing the song for this year. ♥
The lyrics, I admit, are quite more complex for a beginner in Filipino. There are so many tongue-twisting words like "kumukutikutitap" and "bumubusibusilak". ^_^;
I tried to translate it as accurately as I could, though it may be not 100% accurate. I just tried to get the main idea. I hope it did make sense!
Here are the lyrics (with some translations):Kumukutikutitap, bumubusibusilak(Flashing, shining) Ganyan ang indak ng mga bumbilya
< --- *"ng" on its own is pronounced "nang"(That's the dance of the bulbs) Kikindat - kindat, kukurap -kurap(Winking, blinking) Pinaglalaruan ang inyong mga mata(Playing with your eyes)Kumukutikutitap, bumubusibusilak(Flashing, shining) Ganyan ang indak ng mga bumbilya(That's the dance of the bulbs) Kikindat - kindat, kukurap -kurap(Winking, blinking) Pinaglalaruan ang inyong mga mata(Playing with your eyes)
Iba't - ibang palamuti(A variety of decorations)Ating isabit sa puno(Let us hang on the tree) Buhusan ng mga kulay(Pour the colours in) Tambakan ng mga regalo(Dump it with presents)
Tumitibok-tibok, sumisinok - sinok(Beating [as in a heart], hiccuping) Wag lang malundo sa sabitin(Just don't let [the tree] dangle down with decors) Pupulupot-lupot paikot ng paikot(Wrapping around, going round and round) Koronahan ng palarang bituin(Crown it with a foil star)
Dagdagan mo pa ng kendi(You add more candies) Ribon, eskosesa't guhitan(Ribbons, *draw the garland round and draw)
< --- *not so sure of it and what it means Habang lalong dumadami(While still getting plentier) Regalo mo'y dagdagan(Add more gifts [yours])Kumukutikutitap, bumubusibusilak(Flashing, shining)
Ganyan ang kurap ng mga bituin(That's the blink of the stars) Tumitibok-tibok, sumisinok - sinok(Beating [as in a heart], hiccuping)
Koronahan ng palarang bituin
(Crown it with a foil star)
I think this is the shortened version of the song. There are a few more repetitions in the original version.
Okay, so huge thanks to these for me to have a guide for all the voices!
