"Lookit the weather out there..."

"How absolutely, positively- EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKK!!!"

Dark almost died laughing upon seeing Gufuu's reaction when a soggy leaf landed on his face, thanks to the strong winds and rain. The wind sorcerer panicked and hurriedly rubbed the leaf off his face, though it took him some time since the leaf always just slipped through his fingers.

"I... hate... you..." Gufuu pouted, attempting to scratch Dark's eyes out.

"So why are we here again?" Dark asked as he put his palm on Gufuu's face to prevent him from coming closer.

Link was apparently getting some things from his closet. He got himself a cellphone, an insect repellent lotion, some flashlights and candles, as well as some luminous sticks and lanterns.

"I already told you, we have to stick together since Grandpa's not home. Grandpa's orders. He said it was best to stay here since he already knows this place all too well compared to your place."

"Bah." Dark let out an exasperated sigh. "Where's he at, anyway?"

Link just looked at him. "Well... apparently he was stranded back in Zelda's palace and couldn't get back home thanks to the typhoon."

"I wish I was stranded in a palace..." Dark almost whimpered, thinking of the majestic palace and the treatment it gave to its guests and residents. "I got stranded in a mosquito-infested school the last time this happened. I almost slept with all the other students there... luckily I snuck out and FLEW all the way home. Although I got a slight cold that day..."

"And I had to take care of you." Gufuu scoffed.

They turned their heads to one direction as they heard the door of Link's room creak open. There, standing before them...

"It's cold..." Vaati came inside, literally wrapping his whole self with a blanket so that only his head and hand may show, with a ceramic cup of hot chocolate in the said visible hand. Upon closer view, his cup had a décor on it, such as a little ceramic picori was on top of the handle of it, with its little hands on the brim, trying to peek in the opening of the mug.

He went over to where the others were and knelt on the ground as he reached out for his plush cucco.

"...." Dark just stared at him for some seconds. "Y... U... such... a... WOOBIE."

"What's a woobie?" Vaati asked innocently as he tried to drink from his mug. "Ow! It's still burning hot..."

"Does it hurt?" Link asked worriedly.

"Oh no no no, it feels good, it feels good." the shadow sorcerer sighed and rolled his eyes. "Of COURSE it hurts, do you think he would say 'Ow' if it didn't?"

"Sorry, sorry... may I please apologize?" Link answered Gufuu and seemed to be irritated.

"It's alright, Link..." Vaati shook his head and just blew on his cup of chocolate. "Don't worry... this happens to us all the time, doesn't it?"

Hearing this was relief to the hero's ears.

Unlike Vaati, his shadow Gufuu has such a temper and could be quite crude at times, though he still prefers to be refined as his counterpart. Perhaps it was Vaati's mild demeanor that charmed Link to be closer to his fellow light being than the shadow.

"Dark, I... I..." Gufuu seemed to be all stiff from where he knelt.

"Heh? What?" Dark, who was sitting next to him, raised his brow.

The shadow sorcerer whimpered and looked like he held it all in. Judging from his face, you'd say he wants to take a leak.

"Then go."

Gufuu shook his head and pouted like a little brat. That made Dark sigh and roll his eyes as he pulled his friend up from kneeling.

"If you'll excuse us," Dark said as he grabbed Gufuu's wrist. "Little brother and I must go before he pees his pants off. He wouldn't want to ruin his nightgown now, would he?"

The four were apparently in their nightwear. Dark wore his usual black nightrobe with the red clouds, and Link wore a new set of minty green pajamas. Both the Vaatis were in their tunic-only getup, as usual.

"L-Link...?" Vaati looked at him as he held his mug with both hands. "This... this weather..."

Link looked at him and tried to get what he meant.

"This reminds me so much of you."

"What...?" Link was really puzzled. It was rather... awkward. He was thinking what he had done wrong that Vaati be reminded of him by such a harsh weather; a never-ending duet of the winds and the rain.

"This weather reminds me of when you saved me from... from a fatal illness, or maybe even death..." he took a sip of hot chocolate.

NOW Link remembered. That was how they met up for the first time after their long conflict. He saved the young Hylian-Minish from the harsh typhoon and took him in. He had hated the mage, but as soon as he knew the true personality of the boy, he had grown to love him as his friend.

"Heh, it was nothing." he blushed a little, feeling proud of himself. "I just couldn't stand thinking about how cozy I was in my own house, while you..."

He took a look at the wrapped Vaati again. Now he realized how much cozier Vaati had been ever since they took him in the household. He began to think what it must have been like if he didn't remember to help Vaati that day...

BZZT!

When all of a sudden, the lights went out.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!" there was a scream that came from downstairs.

They heard a door slam, and not long after, chaotic footsteps came about... and they seemed to be coming towards to their room!

"W-what...?" Vaati grew scared, for he always did hate having sudden blackouts.

"It sounds like... Dark?" Link listened closer...

"OPEN THE DOOR! OPEN THE DOOR! OPEN THE FRIGGIN-"

It was indeed Dark... as soon as Link opened the door for him, he barged in the room with a furious Gufuu whacking a newspaper roll on his head and back, over and over.

"OW! I said I didn't do it!"

"You wanker! You foolishly foolish fool! You... you... foolishly foolish wanker! You...!"

"Guys... explain it to him... he thinks I played around with the power switch near the washroom..."

Link went over to the panicking shadow sorcerer and laid his hands on his shoulders.

"Chillax, Gufuu... it's a blackout." he said in his most gentle tone, which captivated almost anyone whom he had used that voice on.

"...... A... a blackout...?"

The sorcerer began to calm down. It was just a shock for him to be taking a leak in peace, and then suddenly the lights in the room turn off.

Even if he WAS a shadow, it was quite surprising.

Link nodded and got some flashlights. "Now we'll all need this. We need to apply whatever we had learned in our previous mountain-climbing."

The hero got some candles from his backpack and instructed the others to light them and put them around his room.

"Now, remember." he said as he put a candle next to a mirror. "Whenever you'd need one, say you'd go to the bathroom, it's best you put a candle next to a mirror. That way, the mirror will reflect the light and will make the place much brighter than if you hadn't done so."

They nodded as they put the candles in different areas; tall cabinets, dressers, drawers, and such. They then all settled down in the center of the room, formed a circle, and put a candle in the center of their circle.

"I guess playing with the Wii is a crossed-out option for tonight..." Dark said. "Luckily, I always bring handheld devices with me in case this happens."

"And what if their batteries run out and there still is a blackout?" Gufuu raised a brow.

Dark just shrugged his shoulders and seemed to be confident about bringing handheld devices, as he seemed to have plenty of them.

"Y'know, I've been meaning to ask you, Gufuu..." Link said, calling the shadow's attention.

"You've been meaning to ask him OUT?!" Dark butted in and acted all surprised as he laughed at them.

"NO!"

"HAHA~!"

"Anyways..." Link just threatened to give Dark a playful punch on the side if he didn't stop. "Gufuu, how come is it that you got scared of the dark a while ago? I mean... aren't you supposed to LOVE the dark?"

"Indeed." Gufuu answered. "About the only 'dark' I can't stand is this cat-faced nerd. But well... may I ask you..."

"Anything."

"Would you not be surprised if say, there was a sudden flicker of light directed at you? Let's suppose you were walking at night in a fairly safe yet dark place... and then SUDDENLY! A beam of light strikes your cerulean eyes, when you were expecting nothing more than a simple street nightlight."

"I... don't really catch your drift."

Dark smirked and was tempted to laugh at Gufuu, but he held it in once he saw Gufuu slowly turning his head towards him.

"What he means is, he was surprised because he didn't see that coming." Dark said. "He WAS already comfy with the light, you know? AND THEN SUDDENLY."

"There are some things even science could not explain." Gufuu added.

"O.... kay." Link just said to end this seemingly silly conversation they're already having.

"So..." Vaati opened up a new topic after a while. "W-what do we do, then?"

"Y'know," Link said. "My parents taught me a game we always played during times like these."

"Yeah?"

"Vaati, do me a favor and think of ANY noun. A pretty simple one."

"Aaaaaahhhh, I know that." Dark said as he pointed a finger at Link and smiled. "'Hyrulean Genius'?"

Link just nodded and then turned to Vaati again, "All set?"

The mild-faced sorcerer nodded at this and waited for what Link was going to do.

"Now, I'm going to guess whatever Vaati thought." he looked at Dark and Gufuu, mostly at the latter since the shadow hero had already known of this as he said. "First we ask if it is a person, animal, place, thing, food, or an event. After that, we branch out to different questions like, 'Is it four-legged?'"

"Seems fairly easy." Gufuu said, after listening to Link's instructions.

"There's a catch! All Vaati can say is 'Yes', 'No', or 'Maybe/Could be'. No other words like 'nothing' and such."

"What if I don't want to follow that?"

"Then you get a penalty. Dark, do you have a timer?"

Dark got his pocketwatch. It looked like it was full of gears, like those pocketwatches that were in fashion during the steam engine era, but in fact, it was also designed to function like a modern, advanced stopwatch which could adjust time and add seconds to the timer as the beholder wishes.

"You get an additional three seconds," Dark said. "You only have two minutes to guess. We had a stress-free game before, but having time pressure is much more challenging and fun."

"Do you want to guess Vaati's noun?" Link asked Gufuu.

"Let me have a shot at this." replied Gufuu, and was quite confident about it.

***

"Fuu-chan... you've been at this for fifteen minutes and still no answer from Vaati..."

"SHUSH! I need to concentrate!"

"No... face it. You're a born loser."

"SHUUUUUUUSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Dark stopped the timer and looked at Vaati. "Lemme have a shot at it, then."

Dark decided to guess in Gufuu's stead, although the shadow sorcerer protested.

"Is it a person?"

"No."

"Is it a place?"

"No."

"Is it an animal?"

"Ummm.... could be..."

Dark smiled. It seems like he was getting onto something.

He continued, "Is it white?"

"Yes!"

"Is it fluffy?"

Vaati began to be excited. "Yes! Yes!"

"Does it have a beak?"

"YEEEESSS!!!"

Dark smirked at this. He KNEW what Vaati had in mind.

"Is it a cucco?"

"Hmmm... could be~"

"Is it Robin?"

At this, Vaati giggled and hugged Robin, his plush cucco. "You got it!"

Gufuu was speechless as Dark solved it in no time at all. "B-but... that should be under 'things'! Robin's not a real cucco! It's unfaaaaiiir!!!" he whined as he banged his fists on the ground.

"But you could easily get directed to an answer, since we're talking about cuccos after all." Dark smirked.

"But still!"

Link chuckled, "Well, he does have a point. Next time, be straight with your categories... and try to be more general, okay, Vaati?"

Vaati felt a bit embarrassed as he now knew he gave his shadow a hard time and just nodded at Link with a sheepish grin.

The shadow sorcerer rose up and looked outside to see how the weather is. The winds were still strong as rain splashed on their clear window, some mist forming on its glass. He somehow felt comfortable, though he knew that the wind could be lethal, for wind was his element and he knew that the winds will never hurt him.

"This..." Gufuu said. "This weather reminds me of Mommy's temper when Daddy comes home late from Master Ezlo's place."

"Oh dear." Dark said with a shocked face after hearing this from his friend.

"Strangely, it kind of reminds me of the same thing too..." Vaati added as he huddled himself to Link, snuggling to his own blanket patterned with little cuccos all over it.

"Why did that scare me just now?" chuckled Link a bit nervously.

"BeCAAAUUUSEEE..." Dark smirked yet again. "Because you remind Vaati of his dad."

"And YOU remind Gufuu of HIS dad."

"We should be afraid. We should be VERY afraid. Who knows what their moms would do to us... or the winds would do to us!"

The two Links each looked at the Vaatis they were left to take care of. They swore to themselves never to mess with them, for they were wind mages... and they could summon harsh winds like that anytime they wanted to.

"Now what do we do?" Link said as he kept Vaati warm by putting an arm around him.

"Well..." Dark went to his backpack and drew a fairly thin book from it.

"NO." Gufuu pushed Dark away from him, as they were beside each other.

The book Dark held was none other than their favorite horror book series, 'True Hylian Ghost Stories'. The two Vaatis seemed rather scared, but the two Links, especially the owner of the book, was fine with it.

The shadow hero sneered at him. "You SCARED~?"

Gufuu was frank and mimicked the shadow hero's tone. "YES~!"

"Too bad for you. Now, which story should we... AHA! This one's about the Picori!"

"N-no..." Vaati huddled closer to Link, trying to make himself more comfortable.

"I wonder if it talks about how Picori can be turned to genuine gold..." smirked Dark as he looked at the two Hylian-Minish sinisterly.

***

"I told you, we shouldn't have read ghost stories." Dark said, keeping his book in his bag.

Link surreptitiously stared at Vaati huddling close with a tad scared look on his face. He gently patted his friend and looked back at Dark.

"You see? YOU SEE?!" Gufuu laughed at Dark's face. "That story shows what happens when you HYLIANS mess with us MINISH!"

"Dangit, Fuu-chan..." Dark was still a bit scared of what he just read. Apparently, he hasn't read his book yet until now and so the shock of the horror story still lingered. "I don't wanna be a roast Hylian..."

"Minish are not all about cute, fluffy, bug-eyed people with leaves for clothes who do nothing but help Hylians all day... we can also rebel against you if you're bad..."

Link hugged Vaati tightly and made sure that he was patting him nicely, and that he didn't hurt him in any way.

"Link... the hug's too... tight..."

"N-no! I... I'm good! I'M A GOOD BOY! PLEASE DON'T GET ANGRY WITH ME AND MAKE ME YOUR FOOD." Link's eye twitched as he went away from Vaati.

Vaati, as a result, was surprised. His mouth was left agape in astonishment as he looked at the horrified Link.

Gufuu laughed so hard at this that he rolled on the carpeted floor and banged his fists on it. When he got tired of rolling on the floor laughing, he hugged Dark tightly and still continued to laugh so much that he...

"'SNORT'?!" said Dark with a shocked face. "Eeewww, Fuu-chan, you snorted? WAHAHAAAA~!"

The shadow sorcerer Fuu-chan covered his nose and mouth as he still laughed. He still could not help but snort a bit, though he tried so hard to keep it all in. His cheeks were already rosy, but he still wasn't giving up on laughing anytime soon.

"Very funny." Link said sarcastically as he looked at Gufuu.

Gufuu smiled slyly at him, "Oh now where is that... I'm going downstairs to the kitchen to..." he made gestures that he will be getting certain utensils...

"HALT!" shouted Link as he saw Gufuu advancing to the door with a teasing face.

Dark looked like he was thinking about something. He looked at Gufuu who was smirking at him as well.

"Y'know..." he said as he rubbed his chin. "If you ARE going to eat us, you'd have a hard time explaining to everyone; Grandpa, our parents, the palace, the Picori... what just happened. You can't eat us."

"I could think of how to do that." Gufuu smirked, his face looking like a sly cat's.

"But then you know what? If I die here, you'd be stranded in the Light Realm... and who knows who you and Vaati would meet without me and Link to be with you..."

"I'm just kidding around!" Gufuu knelt on the floor again where they stayed. "Hmph, spoilsport."

"Me? Spoilsport? No, sorry... Vio already claimed that title."

"Alright then... wiseguy. Like your new title? I'm sure none of the remaining Links had ever had that title but you."

"There, now your logic's going sound!" Dark smiled and winked an eye at him.

"But seriously... I need to go to the kitchen to have a drink..."

"Alright."

The two shadows nodded at their two remaining friends and proceeded out of the door to go downstairs. The two waited for some minutes, when they saw that the lights came back on to their delight.

"Oh yes!" Vaati squealed. "Electricity, how I missed you so!"

Link smiled at this and was relieved that electricity was back. He instructed Vaati to blow all the candles with him. Even in doing so, they had fun! They made fun of it by saying "Happy Birthday to You" in a tune, with every other candle that they blew. But just when they were about to blow the very last candle...

"EEK!" Vaati squeaked and almost screamed loud.

The lights flickered, although they did not really end in a blackout. They merely flickered and remained as so, like they were playing tricks on them and scaring them. Well, it sure did work on Vaati... as for Link, he held Vaati tight and held the remaining lighted candle in his free hand.

"It's alright, Vaati... I'm here." he assured as he rubbed Vaati's back and ruffled his hair a bit.

It worked, but not entirely. The shorter of the two was still tad scared and held onto the taller tightly. The strong rain and the harsh winds were not helping soothe him either...

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKK!!!!!!!!!!"

Link let out a shocked face, just as his friend did. "That... that sounds like..."

"Gufuu!" shouted Vaati worriedly. "Link, we have to check if he's alright!"

The hero nodded at this and went outside of the room as he still held his friend.

It was creepy indeed, as even the lights in the corridors were flickering. He knew that their lights were perfectly fine... but what on earth happened?

What is going on...?

They went to the stairs so that they may go to Gufuu, but...

"D-DARK!!!" screamed Vaati as he covered his mouth.

The two, with the blonde on the lead, went to a limping figure on the steps of the staircase. They found that they had two options: it's either their friend was unconscious, or... what they feared the most...

"DARK!" shouted Link as he saw his friend's face.

Red liquid trickled from Dark's mouth as his expression was blank with his eyes closed. It seemed like his robe was stained too... as-

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Vaati cried as he screamed seeing his friend.

Now they noticed that his robe was stained with the liquid...

… as they saw a blood-stained knife just beside Dark's body.

"We have to call for help!" Link said, trying to keep his cool as he got his cellphone, but there was no signal, to his dismay.

"Wait... what about Gufuu?" asked Vaati worriedly.

As Link remembered this, he and his friend left Dark for the meantime and rushed to the kitchen where they thought Gufuu to have been in.

What they saw in the kitchen/dining room was a shock.

"H-help me...! Please help me...!"

They saw Gufuu with his wrists tied up to one of the dining chairs, as he was laid down on the dining table. He struggled, but to no avail. The two rushed to him and tried to free him from his captivity.

"This... this is hard to..." Link said as he tried to undo the knot. "Who did this to you?"

"I... he..." Gufuu was in tears.

The counterpart of the shadow sorcerer went a bit far from them to get a knife from the kitchen counter so that they may cut Gufuu's ropes and free him.

As he arrived on the counter, he took a knife and turned around to go back to his friends.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!" he screamed and dropped his knife, just as he was about to take a step from where he stood.

And he had a reason to scream too, because right in front of him stood his friend; with a manic smile on his face and the bloody knife which they assumed that was used to stab him earlier. He looked straight at Vaati's eyes and slowly inched his way towards him groggily.

Vaati could not scream anymore as his mouth was left agape, fixed for a silent scream. He backed away, until he felt himself backed onto the kitchen walls.

He was getting desperate... what was going on...? Has his friend turned.... undead....?

***

"He's not really dead..." cried Gufuu as Link stopped trying to undo the knot upon hearing Vaati's scream not too far from where they were.

"Wait, what?" Link was shocked to hear this from Gufuu. What exactly did he mean?

"Dark... he's not really dead..." cried Gufuu. "He had turned into a mindless evil being... and... he's going to kill me..."

"N-now why would he do that?"

"I was tied up for he was going to offer me as a sacrifice..."

Now Link was more determined to free Gufuu... but what of his other friend who had just screamed? Now he was really worried for what was to become of his friend...

"A new sacrifice..."

The hero and the shadow sorcerer heard a hiss not too far from them, which made them all the more scared and shocked.

"Link...!" cried Vaati as he was held by a crazy Dark Link.

"Vaati!!!" shouted Link. "Let him go!!!"

"No... you're taking that sacrifice away from me, so I get to have this young one instead..."

Link looked at the helpless shadow sorcerer lying down on the table.

"What are you staring at me like that for?" Gufuu raised a brow as he struggled from his ropes.

Thought the blonde, 'Y'know, I'd just want to trade you for Vaati... that'd be the easiest and most convenient way.'

Gufuu then kicked Link on the side, which the made the affected groan upon impact.

"What did I do?!" Link shouted at him, his hand to his side.

"I did not like that look of yours!"

The crazy shadow hero pointed some sort of a knife to the poor Hylian-Minish's chest and stared at them.

Link stared at Dark and raised both his hands up in the air. "I surrender. Please don't hurt them, hurt me instead."

Dark stared at him. "Masochist?"

"What?"

The shadow hero threw the knife away and turned his back against them as he held Vaati in an embrace. It seemed that the sorcerer was struggling...

"......." Link stared at them for a while as he slowly let his arms down. "ALRIGHT, STOP MESSING AROUND!"

Dark could not help but laugh so hard as he took his hand off Vaati's mouth, of which he pretended to kiss. The Hylian-Minish did not giggle at this, for he was all too confused.

"Gotcha, didn't I?" Dark smirked as he let go of Vaati.

"Hmph." Link scoffed. "You almost gave me a heart attack. I honestly was panicking!"

Gufuu looked at Dark, who stood a bit far away from below him. "Well, aren't you going to free me? You've had your little game with them."

The shadow hero gave it a little thought before answering, "Hmmm.... I don't know, you seem much more behaved this way."

"LET ME FREE, YOU WANKER!!!"

After hearing that, Dark's eyes narrowed as he picked up the knife and raised it up again. His eyes looked furiously crimson as he glared at Gufuu. He pushed Vaati away, making the poor boy land on the floor.

"Dark! What...?!" Link got mad as he saw him push Vaati away just like that, and feared for what was to happen to them.

The shadowy youth merely growled at him and pushed him roughly away as well, the way he did to Vaati. He walked to Gufuu and went on the table as well and knelt there. He glared down at the shadow sorcerer and raised the knife with both his arms, as the shadow sorcerer looked up at him in fear.

"D-Dark... what are you...? Please don't hurt me..." pleaded Gufuu, as he feared that Dark would indeed finish him off.

Dark indeed plunged the knife... to Gufuu's ropes. He set the shadow sorcerer free from the ropes and got off him.

Gufuu did not know what to say; instead, he just looked up at Dark who was looking down at him.

Dark laughed, "Heh, scared you, huh?"

The long-haired shadow sorcerer let out a serious pout as his eyes were glaring at his shadow friend and shouted at his face.

"WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?!"

***

"See, Fuu-chan's not gonna talk to me for a month."

Dark was talking to Link as they let the two Vaatis walk before them on their way to the hero's room. The other two were busy talking between themselves as well, as the shadow sorcerer looked back from time to time as he whispered to his light counterpart.

"They're talking about us." Dark groaned, scratching his head in exasperation. From an angle, one could swear that he had some sort of a red mark on his cheek, shaped like a hand.

"Heh... I can see that..." Link patted Dark's back, feeling for him.

"... Eeewww.... what... is this?!" Gufuu let out a disgusted face as he looked at the heel of one of his fluffy bedroom slippers. He saw something wet on it...

"... What a bother..." Link slapped his head with his palm as he realized what Gufuu had stepped in. "You guys go on ahead. I'll fix this."

As the hero was about to go on his way, Dark held him by the shoulder and roughly pulled him back. The black-haired boy apparently grimaced at the blonde.

"What do you mean, 'you guys go on ahead'? What're you gonna do down here all by yourself?"

"Well... I... there's no need to worry, really. It's no biggie, I'll just have to fix something then I'm on my way upstairs."

"In THIS harsh weather? Link, you're NOT a shadow like Fuu-chan or I. What if there's a power outage again? We can never tell."

As Dark said it, Vaati surreptitiously knocked on the wooden wall three times, as a little tradition he had probably accustomed to while living back in the Minish Village.

"Hmph... fine." Link gave in and let them follow him. "I told you it's no biggie, I just have to put a temporary fix on the wall as I put a bucket down... below... it..."

His voice trailed off to a softer tone as he saw that there was more than one leak in the roof that they had to fix. It must be why Gufuu's slippers had been soaked, rather than simply having them dipped in rainwater for a while.

"Are we SERIOUSLY going to have to fix that?" Gufuu raised his brow as the two Links got the materials they needed to fix the holes.

"YES." Dark said as he carried his long-haired friend over his shoulders and made him sit, which made the latter squeak in surprise.

"H-hey! Let me down!" demanded Gufuu as he pulled Dark's ears and twisted them. At this, Dark mimicked the sound of a motorcycle to taunt him... but unfortunately for him, Gufuu enjoyed it with him making that sound.

"Alright." said Link as he put the buckets directly below the leaks. "Now we just have to put these putties to help stop the leaks even just for tonight."

The black-haired boy looked at the blonde and pointed at his current position with his shadow friend, as if suggesting that he does the same.

"R-right." Link raised a brow, finally making sense out of it. "Vaati, if you don't mind..."

Vaati squeaked in surprise as he felt Link slowly lift him up on his shoulders, the same way that Dark had done to his shadow. He hung on tight to his friend as he felt himself going higher until he was leveled with his shadow.

"You okay up there?" asked Link, his grip tight on Vaati.

"Y-yes!" said Vaati as he held Link tighter.

"Good."

Link gave Dark some of his putties and soon both of them gave it to the two Vaatis. The two mages knew just what to do, and so they asked their partners to hold them tight as they reach out to put the putties on the holes.

"Eww, rainwater is SO dirty! And just when I had taken my bath... EWW!!!" Gufuu ranted as he put one of the putties on.

Being the jerk he is, Dark jokingly threatened Gufuu by loosening his grip a bit and shaking him, making the mage squeak and scratch him.

"Link... I want to wash my hands after this is done..." Vaati could not hide his disgust as well, for rainwater was undoubtedly dirty, especially having gone through the dusty roof.

"Of course, we'll all clean our hands and arms later." said Link as he held Vaati tight, looking up to see if he's doing a good job.

A few moments later, they were done with the roof holes and the putties and had already started cleaning themselves. Having felt accomplished that they had temporarily fixed their Grandfather Smith's roof, they all headed for the stairs to go to Link's room.

"EEK!" Gufuu held tight onto Dark as he felt himself lifted off the ground like his light counterpart. It was the blonde who had carried him this time.

"You wouldn't want your slippers wet, right, Gufuu?" asked the blonde one kindly as he held him assuringly.

"Hmph. You got that right. Now move it." Gufuu replied quite snobbishly and held onto him tight.

"Trust me on this, Vaati." said Dark as he held Vaati who was sitting on his shoulders. "I only play those pranks on Fuu-chan. I couldn't hurt a woobie like you."

As they went up, Vaati still asked him, "What's a woobie?"

***

The four finally went back up to their room and settled. The two Vaatis were to share Link's bed, as the two Links had their own sleeping bags they had just laid on the floor.

Dark was done changing his attire after staining his clothes with red food coloring. As the other three demanded it, he explained that he had plotted a prank on the two after he and Gufuu knew that the power was back on, but seeing that all the appliances were turned off, Link and Vaati wouldn't know of this until they checked it out for themselves.

That's when Dark thought that he would mess with the fuse for a bit. How? With his magic. But of course, he wouldn't mess with it if he couldn't fix it after the prank, and so he ensured the safety of everyone and everything before he proceeded with it.

Now that everything was over, he made the fuse function normally.

"Are all your pranks well-planned like this?" said Link, raising a brow.

"Of course." Dark smiled like a sly cat.

"Hmph." Gufuu acted all snooty and stuck up his nose, turning away from Dark.

"Hey, I already said I was sorry!"

Dark went over to his friend whom he had just really scared and gave him a friendly hug. The shadow sorcerer tried to shake him off, but he just couldn't... Dark clung too tight on him.

"You really almost gave us a heart attack there, Dark..." said Vaati, hugging his cucco as he tucked himself in bed.

"And why push us away?" said Link, remembering that his friend had just pushed him away, as well as Vaati.

"Eh... I'm sorry. It was all part of the act, I guess I get too carried away when I act out." he scratched his head and looked guilty. "Dang... I guess I DID get too far on this prank... I'm sorry, guys."

"Well... at least you helped us with the roof leaks..." Vaati smiled tenderly.

"... AND you were the one who volunteered to help me in the first place!" Link grinned, then went to Dark and patted his back. "You're all good, man."

'Carried away with your part? Hmph... such an actor. A very good actor at that. You almost gave ME a heart attack.' thought Gufuu. 'Honestly though, your acting skills are to be admired. I'm jealous.' "I hate you."

Gufuu playfully slapped Dark away and settled down to sleep beside Vaati. He snatched Vaati's plush cucco away from him and hugged it to sleep as he turned away from his counterpart.

"H-hey, give him back...!" said Vaati, pulling his shadow. It was no use, his shadow was firmly facing away from him and was tightly hugging the cucco.

He was left with no choice but to hug his own shadow from behind as a substitute for Robin the cucco, for it seems that his shadow had also snatched his pillow away.

"GROUP HUG." Dark went on the bed and hugged the both of them as if they were his stuffed toys.

"GETAWAYFROMME." Gufuu hit him with Robin, which gave way to Vaati to get his own plush toy back... and he did.

"Guys... let's just sleep, okay?" Link said as he settled in his own sleeping bag, tucking himself in as he just looked at the three on his bed.

"Ah well... I guess Fuu-chan here still hates me..." Dark said with a low tone, getting off the bed and into his sleeping bag. "Goodnight to everyone, I guess."

"Sweet dreams." said Vaati sweetly as he closed his eyes and snuggled to Robin.

"Don't let the bedbugs bite!" said Link as he turned away and tried to sleep.

A few moments later, Gufuu rose from the bed and looked at everyone, who seemed to be in deep sleep. He went to his bag of belongings and seemed to search for something...

… after a while, he pulled out a big, huggable, black rose plush toy. The rosebud was just thrice as big as his fist, and the stem was thick enough to be proportionate with the big rose, which was completely bendable. He was about to go to his bed when he stopped and stooped down at Dark, who slept on the sleeping bag just beside their bed.

He put the black rose beside Dark... the shadow hero smiled in his sleep and hugged it. At this, Gufuu smiled... and then he rose his head if either of the other two saw him. To his relief, none of them were looking at him and seemed to be in deep slumber.

'I just couldn't stay mad at you... I don't know why exactly, but I just couldn't.' thought Gufuu as he smiled at the sleeping Dark and then went back to sleep.

After ensuring that he was asleep, Link turned to look at his other friends and smiled. He was really happy that even though they had a little misunderstanding thanks to a prankster, no trivial quarrel really happened and their little misunderstanding was solved almost immediately.

He took out his cellphone and sent a text message to his Grandfather Smith.

"We're all fine here, Grandpa. As you had just expected, we would eventually have a little quarrel, thanks to my two friends. But you know what? We all got better, as we expected it. I'm really thankful that I have friends like them. Hope you're fine there, Grandpa."

He was about to fall asleep after sending that, but then he felt his cellphone vibrate once more. He checked it, and there was a message from his grandfather.

"That's a good boy, Link. I'm so happy to hear that you are mature enough to handle such things. Goodnight, I will be coming back home tomorrow morning."

He smiled. "It wasn't just me, Grandpa. It was everyone. It was almost as if they purposely forgot that we had a problem and did things to forget about it. We also fixed the roof with putties so it will be ok all night. Goodnight too, Grandpa. :)"

And with that, he slept with a smile on his lips.
This is another oneshot I thought of after some typhoons just hit our area. Just the same as in the oneshot, we did keep ourselves safe. The worst we had was power outage and harsh winds, but nothing more. :)

I hope you like! Just another random oneshot about Dark, Link, Vaati, and Fuu-chan (Gufuu/Shadow Vaati). ^^

Oh yes, and if you don't know what a woobie is, it's in TV tropes. It'd give you a better definition. ^^
